Primus 5
This year Primus put out an album that re-imagined the soundtrack from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971). Every show they played on the tour was Wonka themed and the prints aimed to match the band's vision. For mine, I turned my focus to the everlasting gobstopper and built the image outwards from that. Sidenote: I wish there were actual candies sold in this shape. I saw my friend Zoltron had already done a fantastic likeness of Gene Wilder for his print and I opted to create a symbolic representation of him as an emperor tamarin monkey. In some weird way their expression, energy and mischief symbolically capture some of Wonka's spirit. For this print, I experimented with a stippled technique and there are quotes from the film in each corner.
