Billy Strings - deep space friends
The idea for this art came from witnessing Billy live in Austin (Stubbs) in 2022 with my friend Seth. He played over 4 hours alternating sounds between traditional bluegrass and psychedelia. There were moments in Billy's set where the music swells and playing speed rapidly increased. For me, it felt like being blasted into deep space! I felt all the warm colors and kaleidoscopic shapes from being pulled into the vortex of hyperspace. The image is really about seeing live music with your best buddy. It's about becoming totally immersed and transfixed to another realm by the intensity of the music! This happens when seeing Billy. Highly recommended!

Attached are early sketches sent to management showing a frog and goat as the original deep space buddies. At one point I considered a cat, turtle or otter as well. I thought you all might like to see how this one evolved.
