Voltron - Defender of the Universe

Working with officially licensed properties is tricky. I usually try and figure out how far I can push their brand while still get work approved. I attached an early rough where I had hoped to create a Metropolis themed Voltron out of gold inks. After going over the idea with the Acid Free Gallery it became clear that the gold color scheme wasn't on brand for approval. I went back to the drawing board and eventually had a breakthrough when I realized I could run a rainbow blend throughout the framework of Voltron satisfying their need to use: red, yellow, green and blue. Illustrating Voltron in a simplified color scheme felt more in the spirit of what I like which is very limited color and more economic design. I made this thing with glow in the dark in mind and it's pretty intense when the lights are off. Remember that in order to activate glow inks the surface has to bathe in the light for a few minutes.

I'd also like to add that I'd love to see this print in Leonard's room from The Big Bang Theory. If any of you out there have a lead on that drop me an email and I'll make sure you get a copy of something you like.
