Dave Matthews Band - Strawberry Moon

One visible satellite looms from above carefully watching, observing and collecting data from undisturbed nature. The sky is vibrant and alive with activity. Nature is fully awake and takes a moment to pause and inspect the eyes in the sky while listening to the echoes of camera shutters of the not so distant future.

I went through many different iterations before settling on the art you see here. In the first sketch we see a deep valley with a dramatic mountain landscape which was an exaggerated fantasy version of Wisconsin I conjured up. Management was ultimately looking for something more grounded in reality and I struggled to give the gentle rolling valleys and hills some of the drama from the first sketch. I then ventured off into some concepts involving badgers since a show in Wisconsin is likely my only chance to draw that animal. In the end none of the three initial sketches felt right and I decided to draw a family of deer set to a more naturalistic rendering of the state's climate. The show ended up happening on the night of Strawberry moon which was kismet.
