Dave's art director Matt suggested a mermaid as the centerpiece for the West Palm Beach art. Surprisingly, I had never drawn a mermaid in my 22 years making posters professionally! It's always nice to tackle new subject matter. There's this track from DMB called 'Ocean and the Butterfly' that I felt captured a certain laid back breeziness and a kind of ethereal quality that I hoped the artwork would reflect. The song does a really good job incorporating the whole band and the horns and upright bass sound really beautiful. I hope people will feel a certain rhythmic interconnectedness in the way her swirling hair connects with the ocean life.
