Edge of the Wild - blind buy

$ 75.00

Multiples are ok.
.
This is a blind buy. You will get a random color way. It may be the main edition printed on pearlescent opal paper or an iridescent foil or a brilliantly colored lava foil. Every edition is interesting in their own way and none are printed on standard white paper stock. You will like what you get. Trading with people in the poster community is encouraged. If you buy multiples I will try and insure you get different paper colors for each one.

This art was originally created with an Autumn theme for DMB in November of 2023 for a show in Virginia. I found a good rhythm and flow in the fox's face that ended up informing how the rest of the art would feel. Some of that flow started to look like Hokusai's famous wave paintings and I decided to lean into this more with an ocean backdrop. People are naturally going to think that I had Virginia Beaches on my mind but that's not the case. The crashing sapphire waves behind our fiery vixen are meant to represent the intensity of the chase foxes face from hunting. In my folklore the vixen has found reprieve in the high ground on a mysterious island. She sits triumphant, having outrun her captors, upon the setting sun in the wake of the ocean's chaos. Swirling leaves and weathered peaks of the Blue Ridge Mountains sit far in the distance.

There are 6 pieces done on the long out of stock radiant iridescent paper. It's got this color changing property to it that looks just remarkable in person. A part of this paper is used in the film for the visors on NASA's helmets. It's been out of stock for years and is unlikely to be reproduced anytime soon. My printer Steve at D&L just happened to have a large sheet of it left in his paper stocks. I suspect this will be the most chased version. There are 6 copies and I keep 2. The other 4 will be randomly inserted into tubes.
