My Morning Jacket - dragon

MMJ's art director came to me with a clear vision of a majestic elk with dramatic lighting and skies mirroring the natural Colorado landscape and early roughs looked strong to both of us but the band was laser focused on a theme of mythical creatures and a dragon as the centerpiece of this one. I pivoted and came up with a new idea after that. The narrative in my mind involved a solitary traveler venturing out at nightfall armed with only an oil lamp and the moon's rays as a guide. I envisioned the traveler discovering a dragon in a lush pool surrounded by hundreds of rainbow moths and butterflies. We see only the eye of the dragon at the moment of discovery. The next step in the journey is unclear.
