Sparkle foil to 50 - I think I got the best one
I present to you my next entry in the 'Occasional Acid Flashback' series! Somewhere during the pandemic I became obsessed with Nic Cage and in particular his character choices in more recent years. It was watching things like Mandy, Willy's Wonderland, Pig and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent that really solidified him as a favorite. There's something about the unpredictability and the INTENSITY that he brings to his art that resonates with me. The warmth from the stills in Raising Arizona have all been seared into my young brain due to HBO seemingly running it on a loop in the 80s when I was 7 or 8 years old. I'm getting older now so that whole period of my life feels like a dream, was it wishful thinking? Was I just fleeing reality like I know I'm liable to do? Maybe I'll move to a land not too far away where all parents are strong and wise and capable and all children are happy and beloved. I don't know. Maybe it was Utah.
