The Avett Brothers 6

Last year I created a set of prints for the Arctic Monkeys by isolating bits of fire and ash to help build a burning dress. After completing those I wanted to apply similar techniques using sheets of water encircling a dancer. So I sat on that idea for a bit and waited for the right moment to work through it. One of the earliest Avett tracks I remember hearing was "If It's The Beaches" which I thought paired well lyrically with what I wanted to do here. The song features a kind of tragic optimism wherein the protagonist offers everything, including mountains and beaches to a loved one.

"Water is the driving force of all nature."

-Leonardo da Vinci
