This is the third entry in my Gustav Klimt inspired series. I studied his 'tree of life' painting specifically. There's something about ornate flowing lines and rich decorative patterns that have been stuck in my head for the past few years. It often felt like I was piecing together a patchwork quilt while drawing whimsical patterns one by one. I was also thinking about genealogy and those lushly illustrated family tree posters. There's a familial vibe at Avett Brothers shows and the variety of owls in the tree are meant to chart our diverse families and backgrounds.
